Armenian satirist Vardan Petrosyan has returned from Paris with two new performances "Joke of Destiny" and " Demeanour of Armenia." The first performance is an autobiography: each viewer can see his own life in its lines.
While writing "Demeanour of Armenia" the humorist was inspired by the novel "Wounds of Armenia" by Khachatur Abovian
""Our behavior is characterized as a consequence of our wounds. I tried to rub our wounds to make them noticeable," Vardan Petrosyan said at the "Mirror" club on July 5.
The performance focuses on major political and educational issues. It will be staged in educational establishments since, according to the author, "the theatre is not ready for such an audacious performance." Later, it will be discussed with students and professors. The money collected from the performance will be given to students' councils. The changed version of the performance "Joke of Destiny," "The Man from Paris" will be staged in Russian in November. This is a story about a stranger who appeared in Paris.
Asked whether his performances influence the public, Mr. Petrosyan said, "Art always influences indirectly. If after each performance, 5 or 10 feel something changed in them, I find my mission accomplished."
"The Joke of Destiny" will be premiered at the National Academic Drama Theater after G.Sundukyan on July 30.
