Yuri Vardanyan hospitalized

Yuri Vardanyan, a legendary boxer who serves as an advisor to the Armenian President, is now in the resuscitation unit at the Erebuni Medical Center, said Shushan Hunanyan, a spokesperson for the RA Ministry of Health.

A few days ago, Vardanyan suffered a break of the iron brace located in his thigh. The brace was placed in his foot after a major accident in October, 2010.

Vardanyan was immediately transferred to Yerevan where he underwent surgery but the operation was called off midway due to lack of oxygen flowing to the brain.
Doctors say that Vardanyan's condition is grave though stable.

Last October, Vardanyan was involved in a traffic accident on Yerevan-Gyumri highway. His car hit a tractor parked on the road. After the accident Vardanyan was transferred to hospital in Ashtarak, then to the Nairi Medical Center in Yerevan where underwent foot surgery.
