HAK relies on itself, but…

HAK leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan didn't give any comment after his meeting with the CE Secretary General.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the fulfillment of PACE Resolution 1677 and particularly addressed the issues related to the release of political prisoners, the revelation of the murders of March 1 and the reopening of "A1+" TV.

The sides also touched upon issues related to the Council of Europe's more active role in democracy and human rights protection in Armenia.

Levon Ter-Petrosyan reminded the CE Secretary General that the HAK had presented their issues of concern in a letter in advance.

In his turn, Thorbjorn Jagland noted that the Council of Europe is working and will work toward solving the issues raised.

Participating in the meeting were the CE Secretary General's representative in Armenia Silvia Chehen, Head of the Staff of the CE Secretary General Bjorn Berge, as well as HAK central office representatives Levon Zurabyan and Avetis Avagyan.

"This time the issues of concern included the situation concerning Freedom Square. The First President spoke about the current authorities' illegitimacy and their corruption," Levon Zurabyan said after the meeting.

According to the HAK coordinator, the HAK is mainly relying on itself, but the issues raised will be solved more quickly with help from the international community.
