Armenian chess player Lilit Galoyan defeated Azerbaijan's Nargiz Umidova in "Maia Chiburdanidze Cup" going on in Tbilisi, Georgia.
After gaining five points Lilit neared the tournament leaders.
In round 8, Lilit will face Georgia's Nino Khurtsidze.
The other two Armenian chess players, Maria Gevorgyan and Lia Martirosyan, also bettered their positions taking 17th and 39th places respectively.
